12 March 2010
Location: St Bernadette’s Church
Address: Wells Road, Whitchurch, Bristol BS14 9HU
Time: 10.30 am
As part of our programme for the ongoing formation of our priests, Father Christopher Whitehead has arranged for Gavin D’Costa, Professor of Catholic Theology at Bristol University to lead a day on the Triduum.
Father Christopher Whitehead, Director of Ongoing
Formation for Priests said: "As Holy Week approaches and the highpoint of the Church’s year, it seemed appropriate to spend a little time looking at the celebrations that mean so much to us as Christians and what it is that stands at the centre of our lives of faith. Gavin will invite us to look at the Triduum celebrations of Maundy Thursday - the celebration of the Lord’s Supper, Good Friday - the celebration of the Lord’s Passion, and the Easter Vigil - the celebration of the Lord’s resurrection in the light of the Passover celebration. Gavin will reflect upon what it was that was happening in the Temple alongside of all that was going on in that Upper Room, on Golgotha, and in the garden of the Tomb by way of leading us to a deeper understanding of what Christ does for us in this, his new Passover.
"All our priests are invited and, indeed, encouraged to come along. We'll begin at 10.30 am with refreshments in the hall. There is plenty of parking available. The cost of the day is £30.00 - which will include a cooked lunch - and further details and applications forms can be obtained from Ronnie Mitchinson at our Department for Adult Education and Evangelisation. You can contact Ronnie on 0117 902 5595.
"As well as inviting our priests to be active in their continuing formation, these days provide a wonderful opportunity for our priests to come together and feed, not only in the hospitality, but on the company of others, also.
"I look forward to seeing you there!"
