Our Department for Adult Education and Evangelisation's fascinating, profound, and exciting course about the faith we hold and the faith we profess starts in the south of the diocese in the autumn.
This session is entitled 'Living the Faith, a Social Way of Living' and is presented by Deacons John Proctor and Steve Godwin.
Father Christopher Whitehead, Director of our Department for Adult Education and Evangelisation has put together the ‘Rooted in Christ’ series. He told cliftondiocese.com: “‘Rooted in Christ’ is for people who simply want to know more; those who want to ask questions about their faith, and those who are just hungry for a little more understanding.
“The course will give us a real opportunity to root ourselves back into scripture and also familiarise ourselves - in a simple and uncomplicated way - with what the church teaches us and what we hold to be true.
“Each session will be led by a different speaker and all our speakers come from within our diocesan family. In putting together ‘Rooted in Christ’, we are making use of talent and skill from within our diocese. You can see the full list of speakers and subjects on the poster.”
You can also download the poster with full details about ‘Rooted in Christ’ from the multimedia panel on the right. We also have a print quality version so you can print them out and promote ‘Rooted in Christ’ in your area.
Father Tom Dubois our Assistant Priest in Salisbury tells us more and invites you to take part in ‘Rooted in Christ’. You can listen to Father Tom's prodcast in the multimedia panel on the right.
The course kicks off on Monday 3 October. There are 18 talks in all and the course is designed for people to pick and choose the subjects they would like to delve into rather than having to feel they need to be part of the whole course. Of course, if you want to come along to whole series, you'd be more than welcome to do so. It concludes in March 2012.
Father Christopher added: “The sessions run on a weekly basis. The dates are clearly given on both poster and application form so people have an opportunity to plan ahead.
“‘Rooted in Christ’ seeks to ground people in the faith that has been handed on to them, offer them confidence in what they believe as well as answering some of the questions they may have. The course is not designed to be in lecture-style but offers the people of our parishes an opportunity to engage in rich catechesis so as to deepen their lives of faith… something they may not have had chance to engage in for some time.”
‘Rooted in Christ’ in Salisbury follows on from the series being first held in Bristol. A further series is planned for Somerset.
