Sister Jacqueline Brain, who lives in Swindon and works at our Department for Adult Education and Evangelisation, has been elected Superior General of her congregation.
The Congregation of the Saviour and the Blessed Virgin is a French Order, founded in the Diocese of Limoges in 1832, to bring Gospel values especially to the rural areas of France, following the French Revolution. The Sisters specialise in teaching, nursing and parish pastoral work.
Sister Jacqueline’s work for our Department for Adult Education and Evangelisation is particularly involved with the
RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults). She is very supportive of parish sacramental programmes, is a Confirmation catechist, and has led afternoons of meditation each year her parish of the Holy Family in Swindon.
Holy Family’s Parish Priest and Vicar General of our diocese Monsignor Canon Jeremy Rigden said: “We offer Sister Jacqueline our warmest congratulations and prayerful support following her election as congregation leader of her order, the Congregation of the Saviour and the Blessed Virgin.
“We hope very much that her new role will not take her away from us completely.”
You can listen to Sister Jacqueline talk about her new role in our podcast in the multimedia panel on the right.
