Siyabonga Christ College

29 April 2008

Cheltenham’s Christ College was welcomed Hugh and Irene Holland from the Mother of Peace Orphanage in Kwa Zulu Natal, South Africa.

In an informative and sometimes moving address to students, Hugh spoke the how orphanage came about - as the result of a prayer group that wanted to do something practical to look after children whose parents who died because of AIDS.

The orphanage is located at a former sugar cane plantation, and the children are clothed, fed and well looked after. They go to school, and there is a strong spiritual component in their lives.

Additionally, Hugh and Irene received a cheque for £350.00 which was raised when the college took part in fundraising events last December.

Siyabonga means thank you in Zulu. It is also the name of one of the children who lives at the Orphanage.
