17 January 2012
This year is a special one for our diocese and particularly for the city of Bath. The millennium anniversary of the death of one of the great saints associated with the city will be marked in 2012. To introduce us to St Alphege we hear from Bath historian and diocesan trustee Dr
Giles Mercer.
In today’s (17 January) podcast Dr Giles tells us a little about one of Bath’s most remarkable residents and gives us an insight into this year’s celebrations. Dr Giles also explains St Alphege’s relevance a thousand years on and gives us insights as to why St Alphege is considered a martyr for justice, peace and reconciliation.
You can hear from Dr Giles in the podcast in the multimedia panel on the right.
