Each year since 1970, the relic of St Edmund Campion who was one of the
forty English Martyrs is carried from parish to parish through the
Thames Valley with Mass being celebrated at nearly 50 locations. This
year's pilgrimage starts on 10 June at Stonor and finishes at Tyburn
Convent on 22 July.
Lyford Grange - only 13 miles from Swindon - is where St Edmund Campion
was captured, Stonor was where Campion hid his printing press and
Tyburn was where he was put to death.
The local Lyford pilgrimage starts at the Anglican Church in Lyford
village at 3.30 pm, the procession then proceeds to nearby Lyford
Grange for Mass in the Barn at 4.00 pm on Sunday 24 June, the main
celebrant this year is Right Reverend Peter Doyle, Bishop of
Northampton. All are very welcome to attend.
