UWE (University of the West of England) Chamber Choir and Brass Consort join St Patrick’s Concert Series as East Bristol venue go from strength to strength.
Anyone who has lived there for the last ten years can tell you that the cultural life of East Bristol just gets better and better, with more varied and higher quality attractions seemingly every month.
In the front line of new music events in the area is St Patrick’s Music, whose hugely successful concert series continues on Friday 16 May with a large-scale collaboration that brings the UWE Chamber Choir and Brass Consort to Redfield.
The programme will include works by Mendelssohn, Seiber, Scheidt, and Elgar’s Chanson De Matin, with the Choir under Nicholas Barlow, and the brass consort directed by Richard Colquhoun.
The concert series, which has featured, among others, the renowned Alegrezza Quartet from Wales, Toronto’s Orpheus Choir, the City of York Waits and our own Exultate Singers, is part of broad private, public and corporate-sponsored fundraising for the area’s community youth music programmme, which develops singers and musicians from the age of seven for the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) Voice for Life training scheme.
There is ample parking at the venue; refreshments will be served at the interval.
Tickets are just £6.00 and £4.00. They are available from
St Patrick's Parish Office, 140b Church Road, Redfield, Bristol or call 0117 955 7662. You can also
buy online and on the door.
This performance is dedicated to the memory of Dr Trevor Johnson, Senior Lecturer at UWE and member of St Patrick’s Choral.
