Stroud Celebrates 150 Year Jubilee

The Immaculate Conception in Stroud is 150 years old this year. To celebrate the 150th birthday a series of special events have been planned.

14 to17 June
Mission - to celebrate the first mission launched by Emily Sandys 150 years ago. Mission led by J John, at Stroud Leisure Centre Marquee to seat 2500 people.

20 June
Jubilee Mass at St Rose’s School, all parishioners invited to join the school community in celebrating 150 years. Sister Quentin to give an address.

22 July
Parish open air Mass. All communities to join in one parish celebration of jubilee, followed by a barbeque lunch.

20 August
Feast of St Bernard - Main celebration of Jubilee. A concelebrated Mass on August at 7.30 pm. Bishop Declan will be the main celebrant. A special preacher will be announced. Local dignitaries, clergy, past and present, head teachers and staff of Rosary school and St Rose’s, past and present, parish organisations, former parishioners will all be invited. A light buffet will be served for visitors and guests at 5.30 pm in the Parish Hall. A drinks celebration will conclude the evening to toast the future of the parish.

During the autumn, the special events will conclude with a drama production involving a cast from the parish.
