Taper Tales - Lighting Up Our Hearts

A new podcast series begins on cliftondiocese.com tomorrow (23 August) as we look forward to the start of the papal visit with a special evening of prayers in our Cathedral.

On Wednesday 15 September our local Catholic community welcomes the statue of Our Lady of the Taper on pilgrimage to the Holy Father in London. 

The Rector of the National Shrine of Wales Father Jason Jones will talk to us about the significance of the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Taper, the statue’s important role in the spiritual lives of Welsh people, and the start of the papal visit as he sets off from the National Shrine, with the Bishop of Menevia Right Reverend Tom Burns, on route to London and the Holy Father. 

Our special podcast series was recorded at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Taper in Cardigan, Wales.

Tomorrow Father Jason introduces us to himself, the famous statue and the Menevia Diocese.

Today (22 August) our Director of Adult Education and Evangelisation Father Christopher Whitehead tells us about the upcoming podcast series.  Father Christopher is one of the organisers of the unique spiritual event taking place in just a few short weeks.

Our new podcast series will help us to look forward to our special event on the eve of the Holy Father’s historic visit to the United Kingdom.

For us Wednesday 15 September is the start of the papal visit when we come together as the local Church for an evening of prayers with the desire that the papal visit lights up the heart of our nation.

The evening of prayers in Clifton Cathedral on Pembroke Road, Bristol BS8 3BX, begins at 7.00 pm and concludes at 10.00 pm on Wednesday 15 September - people can come and go throughout those times to suit.
