Taunton Rooted in Christ - The Sacraments

Our Department for Adult Education and Evangelisation's fascinating, profound, and exciting course about the faith we hold and the faith we profess comes to Somerset.

This session is entitled 'The Sacraments - encounters with Christ' and is presented by Canon John Cunningham our Parish Priest and Dean of Taunton.

Father Christopher has put together the ‘Rooted in Christ’ series. He told cliftondiocese.com:“‘Rooted in Christ’ grounds people in a simple, uncomplicated understanding of their faith. We are making use of talent and skill from within our diocese and you can see the list of speakers on the poster.

“Copies of the poster can be downloaded from the multimedia panel on the right. As you can see, the course has moved out of Bristol. It is being hosted by St George’s, Taunton, and the hope is that this might attract a more local community from the area. I’ve been in touch with all our parish priests in Somerset asking them to let people know about the series of talks and for them to support it.

“The sessions are not run on a weekly basis but flow through the academic year. The dates are clearly given on the poster and give people an opportunity to plan ahead. All sessions are free and there is no need to book.

“The course seeks to root and ground people in the faith that has been handed on to them, offer them confidence in what they believe as well as answering some of the questions they may have. The course is not designed to be in lecture-style but offers the people of our parishes an opportunity to engage in rich catechesis so as to deepen their lives of faith.”

There are 18 talks in all and the course is designed for people to pick and choose the subjects they would like to delve into rather than having to feel they need to be part of the whole course. Of course, if you want to come along to whole series, you'd be more than welcome to do so. It concludes in July 2012.
