Thyspace is a retreat aimed at 20 to 35 year-olds who are seeking opportunities for catechesis and spiritual input. A successful retreat was enjoyed last year and another is planned for July. Organiser Nicola Harris has all the details.
The original idea for this retreat came from a discussion between a small group of friends in the age group who felt that we hadn’t taken the opportunity to attend a retreat since we were teenagers. We felt that in our busy lives we often can’t or don’t find time to reflect on our own faith and what it means in our lives or to deepen our understanding of the Church’s teachings.
Last summer, we had a very successful retreat and have held subsequent events during the year, adding to our numbers. We would like to invite any other Catholics in the age group to join us for another weekend retreat.
We were very lucky last year to be led by Father Stephen Wang, a lecturer in philosophy at Allen Hall seminary in London, and we are delighted that Father Stephen is able to join us again this year. Many of us gained real understanding of, and insight into, our own faith from Father Stephen’s talks and guidance and are looking forward to hearing from him again.
This retreat intends to provide the opportunity to have space and time to reflect on our own lives and faith, as well as dedicating time to God. It will provide: quiet time and contemplation, prayer and catechism, reconciliation and Mass, as well as the opportunity to meet and talk to other Catholics in the age group.
The retreat will run from the evening of Friday 3rJuly until the afternoon of Sunday 5 July. It will take place at Our Lady’s Homestead retreat centre in the quiet village of Nympsfield in Gloucestershire.
