Bishop Declan has been to the parish of the English Martyrs in the Tuffley area of Gloucester. He visited to celebrate the Sacrament of Conformation.
Twelve young people were confirmed during the Mass and a small celebration was enjoyed in the parish room and presbytery gardens.
English Martyrs Parish Priest, Father Keith Miles told cliftondiocese.com, “I’ve been very impressed with the very mature response from the young people this year. They treated all aspects of their preparation as important. There were lots of questions and all of them wrote a letter to the bishop saying why they wanted to be confirmed.
“I was quite amazed that some said they wanted to develop more ways to be more involved in the life of our parish and to have more of a voice in decision making. We already have two teenagers on our pastoral council and are now looking at better ways of involving young people. I think we need to come up with some inventive answers.’
