University Altar Server Talks

25 February 2008

A Catholic university student in Bristol has made a film about his experience of life as a student and his involvement with the Church in which encourages new students to come along to the Chaplaincy.

David Christie spoke with Catholic Chaplain at the University of Bristol, Father Robert King, in the video which has been posted on YouTube.

David Christie said “I agreed to make this film because I don't believe religion should be a taboo subject and feel there is not enough coverage of mainstream and moderate religion.  I think that there is a substantial peer pressure not to be religious or go to church while at university and I hope that people watching this may see that there are plenty of students who go to church as well as enjoying other aspects of university.  I believe that going to church every Sunday is an excellent opportunity for me to take some time out for reflection and that no one should ever feel that church is incompatible with a university student's life in the 21st century.”

University of Bristol Catholic Chaplain, Father Robert King said, “David's take on serving Mass and Catholicism in today’s world is the second video in a series about the University of Bristol Catholic Chaplaincy. The series seeks to share with others the importance of university chaplaincies for students.”

This is the YouTube video featuring David and Father Robert.
