Cardinal Tauran, President of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, has written a letter to mark the end of Ramadan, Id al-Fitr. Clifton Diocese Interfaith Officer Father Robert King has circulated it throughout the parishes of our diocese.
Father Robert has asked priests to please extend the Vatican’s greeting to Muslims within our parishes.
Father Robert himself has passed on the message to the
Bristol Muslim Cultural Society (BCMS). The BCMS display the message on the front page of their website.
For most Muslims in the UK Id al-Fitr is celebrated on Wednesday 1 October.
Father Robert said, “Cardinal Tauran’s letter focuses on the dignity of the family. The fostering of family life is of fundamental importance to both Christians and Muslims as it is indeed for the whole of humanity.”
The letter is available from the
Bishops’ Conference website.
