The news that Pope Benedict XVI will be visiting Africa in March has been greeted with delight by parishioners in the Clifton Diocese.
The Holy Father’s forthcoming apostolic voyage takes in trips to Cameroon and Angola.
Our special podcast - which you can hear in the multimedia panel on the right - features Alphonse Daudet Touna, the leader of the ‘One World Choir’ at Bristol’s St Nicholas of Tolentino parish. Alphonse is from Cameroon and talks about his country’s delight as well what the Pope might expect when he visits.
Our podcast also features music producer by the ‘One World Choir’. It comes from their CD entitled ‘Sala Pamoja’ - which means ‘Working and Praying Together’ in Swahili.
The Pope’s African visit begins on 17 March and runs until 23 March. He will depart from Rome’s Fiumicino airport at 10.00 am on Tuesday 17 March, arriving at 4.00 pm in Yaounde, Cameroon, where he will be greeted by the authorities.
