Throughout this week
cliftondiocese.com brought you a special five-part podcast series about our lively parish in Wincanton, Somerset. We now round-up all the episodes.
The first episode of ‘Wincanton Week’ was online on
Monday (15 December). As an introduction to the SS Luke and Teresa parish in south Somerset Parish Priest Father Louis Beasley-Suffolk tells us about the 100 year-old church and the important work that’s taking place to improve the building.
We found out about the life of a parish Sacristan when we meet Bernadette Kiddle - the voluntary Sacristan in Wincanton in
Tuesday’s (16 December) podcast.
On
Wednesday (17 December) we were back with Father Louis as he told us about his fascinating journey to priesthood. We found out how a father of seven who was once dubbed a hooligan is now offering pastoral care to hundreds of families in a thriving Catholic community.
Thursday (18 December) saw us chatting with Pat Cullen. Pat’s the lady who helps the parish run smoothly as she fulfils her role of Parish Secretary. We found out if there’s a typical day and discovered some interesting elements of parish life.
We concluded ‘Wincanton Week’ on
yesterday (19 December), back with Father Louis. Friday’s podcast focused on the strong ecumenical relationships in the parish which covers a large geographical area. Father Louis talked about the warm personal friendships he has with fellow local church leaders and the bonds built up among Catholics and other Christians in the town and villages within the parish.
