The preparations for the
papal visit youth events have taken giant steps forward in the last few days. Our Youth Ministry Coordinator Dave Wheat writes with the details.
All our ID badges have been made and all
our young people have been briefed on our part to play in this historic event.
Our two coaches have been booked and confirmed. We have got some great coaches to make our journey to and from London as comfortable as possible. The coaches will leave from our administrative offices at Alexander House in Bristol and we’ll also depart from The Beeches Green Health Centre in Stroud. A coach will pick up from St Peter’s Church in Eastleaze, Swindon on its way to central London.
The lanyards and wrist bands arrived at Alexander House recently. They look great, really bright so you won’t be able to miss us in London! The t-shirts and pilgrim packs are arriving in the next few weeks which is really exciting.
We have ordered breakfast for over 100 young people from a Bristol bakery. This will give all the pilgrims a great boost as we set off early in the morning.
We are in the process of forming a group of young people to be involved in the ‘
Light Up Our Hearts’ event in Clifton Cathedral on
Wednesday 15 September. This is the prayerful event that will really begin the papal visit for us. If you would like to be involved in this please get in touch. There is a meeting before the service on that Wednesday in the Apostle Room at the Cathedral starting at 5.30 pm with food.
Letters will be sent out in the next few weeks informing each young person of their coach pick-up and drop-off point and the finer details of our events in London on Saturday 18 September.
