Young Eco Group Reuse for a Good Cause

2 February 2012

The eco group at St Teresa’s Primary School in Monks Park, Bristol, recently collected coats from the school families to donate to Age UK. Age UK is currently running a ‘Spread the Warmth’ campaign to highlight the importance of older people keeping warm in winter.

As part of the campaign Age UK have asked for coats to be donated to their shops so that the money raised from their sale can be used to help those who struggle to stay warm at home.

As well as reminding us all to make sure our elderly relatives and friends are warm enough in winter, this project fits very well with the eco group’s eco code - reduce, reuse, recycle, respect, rethink, reflect - as it promotes both reducing (don’t buy a new coat if you can get one from a charity shop) and reusing (when you’ve finished with something it might be useful to someone else).

Three members of the eco group were taken to an Age UK to present some of the 75 coats collected. Well done to all who helped with this project.
